Eating organic on a budget!

Here are just a few ideas to consider if you're trying to eat more organic food but need to stay within a budget! I'm sure family size will make a slight difference here, especially since a Costco membership isn't usually a money saver until you are a family of five, in my experience. Also remember certain foods are more or less expensive depending on where you live. Whenever we visit the south east I'm tempted to bring home as much food as I can😂

  • Costco! Believe it or not they have a huge organic selection! The prices are extremely competitive. I haven't found kerrygold butter, organic bread, and frozen veggies and frozen berries cheaper anywhere and these are staples in our home! A lot of Kirkland brand organic foods are cheaper than non organic foods at our local grocery store. Oh and huge bags of organic tortilla chips for about $5.50 is just my price point!
  • Frozen organic fruits and veggies are cheaper than fresh, usually.
  • Eat what's on sale! If organic potatoes are on sale, eat organic potatoes, if it's apples than buy apples!
  • Join a farm co-op. We purchased a crop share from a local farm and picked up a box of veggies each week at our farmer's market. These shares go quickly!
  • Bountiful baskets, I haven't used this service in a long time. After purchasing your veggies online you bring a basket to a local pick-up location and they fill your order on site! I've found their organic selection cheaper but not of a high quality.
  • Plant a garden of your own or ask friends if you can pick through and pay for their leftovers. Glean!
Hope this helps!
