Spending time with children one on one

Do you have special one on one time with your children? We didn't for years. It just wasn't possible for many different reasons. We have decided within the last Year to really make it a priority and it has greatly blessed our relationships with our children. As our boys get older they get busier, we hope to keep up this good habit  throughout the entire time they live at home. Here are some things we've tried! What are your ideas?

  • When I have errands to run instead of going alone I bring a little (or not so little) one with me.
  • On the day after Christmas the girls and I go out shopping for sale items to decorate for next year.
  • We have one guy at Logos, a private christian school, I try to drop him off alone and pick him up alone.
  • Once a week Will takes a different child out on a date. The kids look forward to it! They go to a coffee shop and get a pop, sometimes they go to a movie or play arcade games! There are a lot of free or cheap things to do locally.

  • Occasionally Will takes two older children and they read or discuss a book they are reading.
How do you plan individual time with your children?
