Managing screen time for nine!
Yup, nine. That number includes myself and my husband. We don't have a ton of hard and fast rules that limit the ammount of screen time (except for video games) but we do have family safety rules! Here are *some* of them!
- No smart phones. If friends come over and bring a smart phone it goes on our mantle until they leave. They may have blocks and other safety measures set up by their parents, but we all have different standards!
- Computer use always takes place in a common room and your siblings can always sit next to you and watch whatever you're doing. Older brothers are a lot less likely to click on foolishness this way. The exception to this is FaceTime. There are two families our children are allowed to talk to, both families have a million kids like we do and it's super hard to hear in the common rooms. A sibling ALWAYS goes along.
- We don't have a T.V., we're super spiritual that way🤣😂 so there aren't any T.V. rules. We do have Netflix and Hulu.
- We only allow two super simple video games downloaded on our tablet. The children each get a thirty minute Sabbath turn weekly.
- In general we run most movies through VidAngel. And all shows and movies have to be approved of first.
- No screens until late afternoon. After school is done and chores are done.
- No screens after parents go to bed.
- Three strikes, it's out. A strike is the Lords name, cuss words, potty jokes... you know, that stuff.
What did I leave out? Don't be a lazy bones!
